The 38th edition of the Platinum Jubilee Memorial Quiz included teams descending from various parts of North-Central India for a Sunday Quizzing Brunch. The menu included Starters, 3-for-all, Tic-Tac-Toe and Think Hatke! among other tried & tested items like Infinite Bounce (or Infinte Rebounds as the Pune quizzers call it) and crossword.
The show had two Semi-Final legs with the top two teams making it to the Finals. The first Semi-Final saw MGD, Jaipur making a strong early start with the others playing catch-up throughout the Semi-Final. MGD was joined by Doon School in the Finals who tipped the scales in their favour with a late surge on the buzzer.
In the second Semi-Final, the performance of Jaipuria School, Kanpur was like a budget airline’s day at work- take off, land, turn around, take off. Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior’s conquest of Tic-Tac-Toe was enough to propel them to the finals.
The Finals could also be termed as an Inter-state quiz since there was one team each from Rajasthan, MP, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It began on a slow note with only two teams troubling the scorekeeper. The Doscos and the SKVians put up a fine performance in the Finals but they fell short when they had to step up their game. A couple of incorrect answers on the buzzer cost the Jaipurians the trophy. The eventual champions MGD kept a cool head throughout and more than just looking pretty on stage they turned out to be lethal on the field too.
