This is the ethos behind Wonga Wits, India’s premier inter-college finance quiz by YES SECURITIES.
On the back of a successful Season 1 pilot, when YES SECURITIES approached us to manage Season 2 in April 2025, part of their broader ‘We Love Wonga’ campaign, we knew we were signing up for something massive. Our mandate wasn’t just to host the quizzes, but also to work with Yes Securities to partner with quiz clubs across India’s premier institutes to nurture relationships that thrive long after the “quiz event” is over.
Today, looking back at the successful culmination of this five-month journey, we are immensely proud of the impact we achieved and more importatly partnerships we built. Let me break down the project so you have a glimpse at how we facilitated industry-academia alliances on the back of years long relationships.
The Mandate: A Pan-India Financial Odyssey
The objective was clear, but the path was unclear. We needed to take Wonga Wits Season 2 directly to the students, making it accessible to top-tier talent across all geographies. Our role involved a multi-pronged strategy: forge strategic partnerships with the internal quiz clubs of premier institutions as venue partners, and working with them to drive promotions to ensure maximum participation.
Yes Securities’ vision was national. Ad so, we mapped out a route that would pit our logistical capabilities against the exam + holiday calendar of these institutes, stretching from Guwahati in the deepest east to Mumbai in the west, and from of Delhi in the north down to the coastal hub of Kochi in the south.
Building Bridges with India’s Brightest
A crucial element of the project’s success lay in our bond with the campus ecosystem. We didn’t just hire halls; we collaborated with the literary and quiz clubs and brought them on board as stakeholders.
The response was phenomenal. The partnerships we built allowed us to execute 10 flawless regional rounds. At every stop, we witnessed teams diving deep into complex finance questions, showcasing a level of awareness regarding the stock market and economic trends that was truly inspiring. Every regional round was not just a quiz but a platform for empowering young people with the necessary financial know-how.
The Road to Mumbai: A Tightly Fought Battle
The energy from the 10 regional legs built up to a crescendo for the National Final. The winners from each of location packed their bags for Mumbai, converging at the Yes Bank House for the national final.
The atmosphere at the finale was electric. With big prizes on offer, the stakes were high and the competition was incredibly fierce. Analyzing questions, strategies, and sizing up competition – the regional winners demonstrated the kind of sharp, analytical thinking one expects at such a grand setting.
After 5 rounds of intense quizzing that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, the dust finally settled. We are thrilled to congratulate the ultimate champions of Wonga Wits Season 2:
- National Winners: NIT Raipur
- 1st Runner Up: Jawaharlal Nehru School, Bhopal (An incredible feat for a school team competing at this level!)
- 2nd Runner Up: IIT Guwahati
The margins between these top teams were razor-thin, a testament to the high caliber of financial intellect amongst the participants.
