If one were to ask if there’s any entity capable of elevating college quizzing beyond the predictable, lecture-theater style format—one that lacks audience engagement and offers limited prizes—while providing unprecedented rewards, exceptional organization, and reaching the farthest corners of the country? The list of possible answers would exhaust before you run out of digits in one hand. Quite honestly, the only logical answer would be the Reserve Bank of India.
Though the RBI90 Quiz wasn’t the first time the RBI has ventured into the world of quizzing, this time, it has elevated the experience to a level never seen before, befitting the grand occasion being celebrated. To commemorate its 90 years, the RBI combined our love for intellectual rigor with an engaging format, creating a far-reaching and more rewarding experience
When we at Evolving Edutainment Pvt Ltd were brought on board by Sunjeet Communications in July, I’ll be honest—I doubted that such a large-scale event could be executed within the tight five-month timeline we were given. The task was clear: create an online quiz portal, promote it across colleges and universities throughout India, and select qualifiers to compete in 30 state and UT finals, followed by zonal and national finals. Oh, and we had to ensure that the entire process—both online and offline—was designed with accessibility for visually impaired participants in mind. So, dear reader, I hope you’re getting what I’m setting when I say we had just five months to figure it all out, all while juggling other projects and clients.
But, as the cliché goes, ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way,’ and that will was clearly demonstrated by the RBI at every stage of the event. For them, this wasn’t just a task to be executed or a box to be ticked. It was a momentous occasion they wanted to celebrate hands-on. Whether it was reviewing the meticulously crafted questions, which spanned a variety of carefully chosen subjects, or incorporating cutting-edge technology to enhance both participant engagement and audience involvement, the commitment to excellence was evident at every turn.
The numbers speak for themselves—1.5 lakh participants from 14,000 colleges across all states and UTs, vying for prizes worth over ₹2 crore. What seemed nearly impossible and overly optimistic back in July, felt like a breeze come December in hindsight. I think that’s the magic created when you choose to care. That’s all it takes—care. Caring about one’s actions, their lasting impact, and the legacy they leave behind.
In essence, the RBI90 Quiz took the concept of college quizzes to an entirely new level. It wasn’t just about answering questions—it was about embracing a culture of learning, innovation, and excellence that nurtures and resonates with our country’s future.
